The capes of the Opal Coast
Let’s focus on our two favorites of the region: Le cap Blanc-nez and le cap Gris-nez !
These two capes are classified by the Grand Sites de France since 1987 as in the same way as its Normandy cousin the Baie du Mont St-Michel.
To the program: beaten track which quide you along the cliffs coast of limestone. Beware if you are afraid of heights, certain tracks are very close to the daunting unprotected edge … Watch your step ! For the most courageous, the highest point is 134 meters !
You will experience on your journey wild nature which owes its profusion to the salty sea sprays of the coast. Fields of poppies in Spring, tall and green grass to as far as our eyes take us, the landscape at moments resembling more lunar with craters of bombs due to the Second World War.
These path will lead you to the small town of Escales, which is nested inbetween the two caps. Hotels, restaurants await you for dining or to recharge yourselves. The large beach of Cap-Blanc-Nez will offer you kilometers of fine sand and a fantastic view over Cap-Gris-Nez. The beach is ideal for long strolls and dipping your feet into the water (if you are not sensitive to the cold) water sports (if you are not at all sensitive to the cold) with equipments adapted to face the temperatures of Northern France !
