Discovering Les Castels Le Domaine de Sévenier campsite
Can you introduce yourself ?
My name is Sophie, I am 34 years old. I am the daughter of the owner, I have known Le Domaine de Sévenier since the beginning and my main wish and aim is to offer the very best for our customers !
What is your role within your Les Castels campsite ?
I am in charge of organising, welcoming, preparing, anticipating, innovating, observing, advising, planning, accompanying, communicating and responding on a daily basis to the well being of the camping and for our customers.
When did your campsite begin operating ? Can you describe it ?
The Domaine de Sévenier has existed for 10 years. It is a peaceful domain with 56 chalets, breathtaking views, the buildings of wood and stone have a great deal of character, very much a domaine on a human scale where you can walk peacefully in a pedestrian only area. We have a unique Spa, set in a hillside amongst 100 year old oak trees. It has a Bubble sauna and an expansive view of the vineyards. Our restaurant offers fine gourmet cuisine with an emphasis on local products. The terrace overlooks the pool and the Ibie Valley. Our activities are mainly related to nature and the land (tree climbing, land art, creation of objects with natural elements, artistic creations in the trees with wool. Wine tasting, and local products, vegetable garden, aromatic …). Our team at the reception is very professional, we consider our customers needs regarding accommodation, well being at the Spa, Booking tours or planning activities.
What are your values, your ambitions for the future ?
Personal values, because our aim is to accommodate and advise our guests throughout their stay. In addition, we have a team of personal staff, so our customers always seem to seek the same people which creates a very trust worthy relationship. We advocate respect for the family: entertainment and shows for the little ones, relaxing moments for the parents because the little ones come and go in complete safety since as there are few cars and no road.We also offer babysitting facilities… We have total respect for the environment and the soil, so our infrastructures blend with nature. We also aim to source local cuisine working closely with producers and artisans. And finally we value well-being with our Spa and nurture a calmness throughout the estate (no noise after 10pm and before 9am ! ) Our ambition: Working year round with our Spa and lean towards the local clientele. So why not create a cultural event at the Domaine de Sévenier before or after the season with a circus theme and puppets.
Can you tell an anecdote? Your best memory?
No real anecdote at the Domaine de Sévenier however … there is the customer who called in the middle of the night to announce that they have found a scorpion in their chalet (here, it’s like a spider)! they even took it back in a box like a trophy ! Or customers who leave on a Saturday for another rental and call us the same evening or the next day to ask us if we still have room for them to come back! There is nothing better than that !
Your favourite place in the field ?
The terrace of the Spa, and a herbal tea by the fire during autumn.
What is your favourite moment according to the seasons ?
In Spring, once everything is in place: the lawn is still green and well mown the hedges and trees blooming, the planters are colourful and it’s the perfect temperature, all this produces a beautiful light. In Summer, early morning, between 8am and 9am, when I deliver the bread and the mist of the night is still present. In the evening, when we close the pool and total calm returns, the clients their swim suit for a jazzy restaurant outfit. And in Autumn, when I accompany the customers to the Spa, the jacuzzi is steaming and the stove fire is crackling, time for a lovely herb tea !
