Camping in Centre-Val de Loire: exploring the Châteaus of the Loire Valley

Once you've settled in on your campsite in Indre-et-Loire, you'll be ready to explore the region, globally renowned for its châteaus. If you follow the river Loire up towards Orléans, you'll be able to visit the following châteaus: Chenonceau, Amboise, Blois and Chambord. If you then go back down towards Angers, you'll pass by the châteaus of Langeais, Chinon and Saumur. You'll definitely be spoilt for choice.

Sports activities and exploring the natural environment in Touraine

Do you fancy doing something original? There are so many cycle paths in Touraine, making it easy to visit the villages dotted along the river Loire and on the banks of the Cher. There are also several different places where you can hire canoes. Once you're safely in your canoe, you'll be able to drift off down the river Loire. As a family or with friends, you could also get a taste of the countryside in Véretz and explore the Cher aboard a traditional 'futreau' (flat-bottomed barge).

A gourmet experience in Indre-et-Loire

While you're on a camping holiday in Sainte-Catherine-de-Fierbois, you'll have the perfect opportunity to taste some of the regional products. Are you an epicurean? Treat yourselves to a Loire wine tasting and then take a tour of the local winegrowing estates. On the local markets, look out for Valençay, goat's cheese in a pyramid shape, Sainte-Maur-de-Touraine or Selles-sur-Cher. For a pre-dinner appetiser, you'll enjoy the 'rillettes de Tours' or 'rillons de Touraine', two meat specialities that are full of flavour.
