Montluçon is located at the entrance to Auvergne and is an easy-going town with a booming cultural scene. While you're on holiday on a campsite in the Creuse, make sure you explore the medieval streets of the Saint-Pierre district, with around fifteen buildings that are either classified or listed as historic monuments. Then go to the heights of the town to the Château des Ducs de Bourbon, built in 1370, and enjoy the breathtaking view of the town and surrounding area from there. End your visit at the MuPop Music Museum which is devoted to pop music of the past and present.

Come and wander around the picturesque streets of Boussac-Bourg's town centre with family or friends, before heading up to the château that stands proudly on a rocky spur. Fancy exploring the surrounding area? You can go climbing or plan a mountain biking, horse-riding or hiking escapade along the footpaths that wind around the Creuse countryside. The rivers and lakes here are ideal for fishing, canoeing or for an afternoon dip.

A gourmet experience in the Creuse

Is your tummy starting to rumble? That must mean it's time to taste a slice of the famous 'gâteau creusois', a traditional recipe that was once used by the region's monks, who baked this cake made using hazelnut powder in hollow tiles. On the local markets, you can buy the local 'pâté aux pommes de terre', a speciality from the Limousin, similar to the 'tourte' (pie). Fans of cheese will be delighted to taste the 'fondue creusois', a fondue dish with local cheese from this region. Yum!
